Twilight Team Run: Western Cape MEC of Social Development Albert Fritz encourages charitable events
The Western Cape MEC of Social Development, Albert Fritz, yesterday officially started the Twilight Team Run, an annual event which saw thousands of race participants, take part in a fun run.
The event was organised by the Community Chest, and is the 32nd time the race has taken place. It has become a popular Cape Town event over the years attracting around 18 000 participants and over 1 500 businesses to the Grand Parade. Participants dress up in a variety of costumes ranging from dragons to ballerinas, and this year’s winners for the costume event were ‘Team Nkandla’.
The spirit of the event places giving and encourages philanthropy over athleticism, and in his brief address to participants, MEC Fritz encouraged people to give to registered NGOs doing great work in the province. All the proceeds for the team run go to the Community Chest.
