Matric rage

That time is upon us once again. The dreaded matric rage. When the grade 12 pupils spend the weekend blowing off pent up steam after having written their finals.

For the law enforcement community it is a time of dread. Every accident scene is approached with trepidation knowing that the involved party’s could be young people, who on the verge of adulthood, have been plucked in their prime.

The arrest and detention of a young person is always a sad affair for the law enforcement community as the young person’s opportunity’s become unnecessarily restricted before their adult lives have even begun.

The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality appeals to all parents, teachers and the siblings of these young adults to encourage these young matriculates to practice restraint by not consuming any alcohol when intending to drive, not getting into a vehicle with an intoxicated driver and by not walking when in an intoxicated state.

The matriculates must also be advised to remain with their friends at all times and to be vigilant at all times.

The Law Enforcement Community throughout the country will be out in full force at this time and will practice zero tolerance towards Intoxicated drivers, passengers and pedestrians alike.
