Schools are reopening today for the education year 2011. Premier Cassel Mathale wishes all the learners a successful year of learning. Mathale says individually and collectively learners must work hard from the first day of schooling to produce good results in all grades in the province. He placed a particular focus on matriculants saying the Matric class of 2010 has done remarkably well to put the province at a pass rate of 57% which marked a considerable improvement from the 2009 results and expects the class of 2011 to surpass 60% pass rate.
Limpopo declared 2010 the year of intensive learning resulting in the improved results of Grade 12. The government of Limpopo is again this year prepared to afford the learners the type of education they deserve to produce good results.
Mathale says parents, teachers and School Governing Bodies must do their bit to help the learners achieve an education of high quality. A special call goes to the parents to show greater involvement in the education of their children.
All grades must start to improve the quality of candidates that are passed to the next grade. “We need to feed tertiary education institutions with learners who have been prepared for universities throughout their years of schooling at primary and high schools. These learners must be ready to meet the challenges they are confronted with in the curricular at universities and colleges” he said.
