Sport and Recreation South Africa hosted the Mascot Prize Giving and revealed AFCON 2013 Mascot “Takuma” at Dikgorwaneng Primary School in Hammanskraal. The Prize Giving was the culmination of Primary Schools Competition which was run over a period of three months.
The public had an opportunity to vote for the best Sport Mascot to be adopted for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2013 Championship and later as a Sport Mascot for all Sport Events and Tournaments in South Africa.
Sport and Recreation South Africa in partnership with the AFCON 2013 LOC awarded the prize winners and their schools. The Prizes were as follows:
Designer of the Winning Mascot for AFCON 2013 Champion:

- Category 3 Tickets for the Opening Match on the 19 January 2013 for the Learners, Teachers and Administrative Staff. 500 x R100 per ticket
- 3 x Official Champion Football “Katlego”
