On 23 March 2010, the Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) arrested a 27 year old SAPS constable based at Maokeng Detective Unit in the Free State for rape. He is alleged to have raped his 17 year old biological sister at their grandmother’s place in Constantia Park on 19 March 2010.
The matter was reported to the police by the victim’s mother. It is further alleged that the Constable had raped his sister on numerous occasions since 2009. He appeared briefly in the Kroonstad Magistrate Court on 25 March 2010. The case was remanded until Monday, 29 March 2010 for a formal bail application. The suspect is still in police custody.
