Manana to award the best performing stations in the province

Mpumalanga Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Sibongile Manana will name the best performing police stations for 2009/ 10 financial year at the annual MEC’s Excellence Awards ceremony.

The awards ceremony are held annually to acknowledge the stations that are doing well and identify the one’s that are not doing well so that they can be assisted to enhance police service delivery in the province.

Speaking about the awards, Community Policing Forum (CPF) Provincial Board Chairperson, Mr Mandla Mphuti said the awards are critical as they acknowledge individuals and teams’ exceptional performance in South African Police Service (SAPS) and they have over the years deeply entrenched a culture of excellence within the police. He said the standards that are expected to be met during the evaluation are exactly what the community needs from the police.

“These awards have become a cornerstone of community driven policing, which is exactly what SAPS is supposed to be about. The fact that stations are competing makes want to do more every time and that benefits our communities as standards and performance is raised because people want to win,” Mphuti added.
