Management of the South African National Defence Force

The Department of Defence has learnt that some individuals of the public intend to interfere with the management of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). The Military Command of the SANDF would like to remind members of the public that according to the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa the SANDF is to be structured and managed as disciplined military force.

The SANDF remains an institution that is non-partisan and above petty party politics. Therefore any actions that seek to undermine military professionalism and discipline by anybody outside the command line of the SANDF will not be allowed in the SANDF.

Members of the public are requested to refrain from using the SANDF to pursue their own political ambitions. The public should also note that the Code of Conduct of SANDF calls on its members not to advance or harm interests of any political party or organisation. The South African National Defence Force calls the members of the public to respect undertaking.

The Chief of the SANDF and the Military Command are charged with the responsibility of ensuring that the SANDF remains a disciplined military force.
