North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Nono Maloyi has sent a strong warning to license examiners over the weekend. He said that the department is going to do its best to curb the continuing fraud and corruption on issuing of fraudulent drivers licenses.
Addressing more than 150 license examiners, MEC Maloyi said harsh measures will be taken against those found to be carrying out fraudulent and corrupt activities in different vehicle testing centers and driving license testing stations.
“Those found to be violating the rules and regulations would be dealt with accordingly. We are going to discipline internally and at the same time police will investigate and arrest. You must check yourself whether you are doing things the right way and delivering as expected and if you are not fit for the job you better resign voluntarily,” warns Maloyi.
MEC Maloyi said that his department need men and women who are committed and ready to serve communities and not those who are going to waste time by not doing their job properly and continue to be involved in corrupt and fraudulent activities.
More than 53 license examiners have been suspended in different vehicle testing stations and drivers’ license centres across the province on suspicions of being involved in fraud activities. Currently there are 26 driving license testing stations and 33 vehicle testing stations in the province.
