The Judicial Officers Association of South Africa and the Association of Regional Magistrates of Southern Africa will today brief the Select Committee on Security and Constitutional Development.
In their briefing, the associations will focus on magistrates’ contention that in making its recommendation, the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers (ICRPOB) failed to comply with the provisions of the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office-Bearers Act 92 of 1997.
The Committee will also receive a briefing from the ICRPOB on Bertelsmann judgement and consideration of magistrates’ grievances. The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development will be in attendance to assist with discussions.
