Limpopo Roads & Transport judged the most productive Department in the country

The Limpopo Department of Roads and Transport has scooped yet another award. In a gala event, marking the National Productivity Awards at Gallagher Estate in Gauteng last night (28 October 2011), the department emerged the unanimous winner in the much-coveted Public Sector category. The department was honoured by Productivity SA for its improvement in service delivery and for recording positive strides in building productive capacity in the country.

The department excelled in all aspects of the evaluation criteria, which sought mainly to show the extent of improvement in productivity through the application of new ideas and innovative thinking and the sustainability thereof over a period of at least 18 months.

Nominees were also judged on the following criteria:

- Staff involvement and the ability of employees to apply productivity improvement tools and methods and are their willingness to share their knowledge with others;

- Benefits to stakeholders (employees and the general public); and

- Social and environmental benefits ( jobs created/retained, empowerment, improved working conditions, safety and environmental impact)

The department represented the Limpopo Provincial Government at this national awards ceremony after emerging victorious in the provincial phase of the awards which was held on 9 September 2011 in Limpopo.

An ecstatic MEC for roads and transport in Limpopo, Pinky Kekana, attributed her department’s success to her dedicated management and staff. “My department has been blessed with a team of loyal and diligent employees who fully understand their individual roles towards the overall goal of the department and government as a whole,” said the proud MEC.
