The Limpopo Provincial Government regrets to announce the postponement of the stakeholder engagement scheduled to take place in Lephalale on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.
This decision follows persistent rainfall in the area, which has resulted in flooding across several parts of Lephalale. The current conditions have rendered key access routes and the identified venue unsuitable and unsafe for the gathering of stakeholders.
It is with deep concern that this postponement comes at a time when the Provincial Government had intended to provide disaster relief support to approximately 290 affected households. The severity and unpredictability of the ongoing weather conditions have made it difficult for community members to travel, with several low-lying bridges submerged and many roads inaccessible.
The planned visit aimed to engage directly with affected communities, deliver relief interventions and explore sustainable resettlement options in safer areas less prone to flooding.
The Limpopo Provincial Government remains committed to supporting affected communities and will announce a new date for the engagement in due course. The rescheduled visit will continue to involve the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA), the Waterberg District Municipality, the Lephalale Local Municipality and senior traditional leaders.
