Limpopo Provincial Government on flood-stricken Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality

The Limpopo Executive Council will conduct a visit today, 15 January 2025, to the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality to assess the extensive damage caused by the recent heavy rains that have severely impacted the area. The visit aims to evaluate the situation on the ground and determine necessary interventions to support the affected communities.

Recent reports indicate significant flooding in towns and villages across the municipality, resulting in damaged infrastructure and disrupted daily activities. The Executive Council will convene prior to the visit to discuss strategies aimed at alleviating the disaster's impact and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.

Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba has emphasised the importance of implementing effective interventions that will enhance the quality of life for the people of Limpopo. "We have received numerous messages through social media, WhatsApp and direct calls detailing the devastation caused by the floods in all districts. Our response must prioritise the residents' needs as we assess the situation and implement necessary measures," she stated.
