Limpopo Provincial Government acknowledges Public Protector's Report and commits to remedial actions

The Limpopo Provincial Government acknowledges the findings of the Public Protector's Report Number: 31 of 2023/2024, which investigated allegations of maladministration and improper conduct in the appointment of Child and Youth Care Workers and Child and Youth Care Team Leaders at the Polokwane Welfare Complex and Mavambe Secure Care Centre.

The report has highlighted areas where the Department's processes did not align with the required standards, specifically in the appointment of certain candidates who did not meet the minimum requirements for their respective posts. The Limpopo Provincial Government takes these findings seriously and is committed to upholding the principles of good governance and integrity in all its operations.

In response to the Public Protector's recommendations, the Provincial Government is in the process of implementing the necessary remedial actions within the stipulated 120 days. These actions include the review of the irregular appointments and taking appropriate steps against members as outlined in the report.

The Limpopo Provincial Government is dedicated to ensuring that all its departments and entities adhere to the highest standards of public administration and service provision. Government is committed to rectifying the identified shortcomings and preventing such occurrences in the future.
