Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale, MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Pinkie Kekana, Agriculture MEC Jacob Marule, Transport MEC Pitsi Moloto have returned from the Limpopo mission to South Korea and China.
During the mission the Limpopo delegation had the opportunity to visit various areas of interest in the two countries with the aim to gain insight into their operations.
The premier also paid a visit to the Governor of the Henan Province to strengthen relations between the two provinces.
Seoul – South Korea
LG CNS
Limpopo premier, Cassel Mathale and his delegation visited the world renowned LG CNS plant which is responsible for electronics, telecommunications and services as well as the production of chemicals. Mathale “This centre is inspiring and our two area should look into brining students from Limpopo to study for these IT skills in Korea".
Road Corporation Research Institute
This company has played a significant role in building South Korea's sophisticated road network. The Premier and his delegation had the opportunity to watch a demonstration on the methods used in road construction.
Icheon Landfill Site
The delegation continued to the landfill site which is the biggest in the world. The land fill site is responsible for returning nature to order by using household and industrial waste to create reusable energy and by restoring the natural landscape.
Shenzen, Guangdong - China
Fantawild Development Inc.
The delegation had the opportunity to visit Fantawild development Inc. which is an award winning entertainment company that specialises in theme parks and film production. The films are produced in a sophisticated manner and include 3D and 4D film. The theme parks are centred on traditional Chinese culture and folklore and give visitors a physical experience of the mystical world. The theme parks play an important role in the local tourism industry attracting millions of people every year.
Mathale said “Fantawild offers a pleasurable experience and has given us new ideas ofexploring the tourism industry in our own province.”
Funtop led lighting aesthetic experts
The delegation also visited the Funtop LED Lighting Aesthetic Experts who produce light bulbs. The delegation was taken through a demonstration of how the light bulbs of various shapes and sizes were produced. The company employs 200 people and exports its product to several countries around the world.
The Premier said “This factory does not only create much needed employment but also caters for the rising need for environment friendly electrical products. Our province and country at large has a great market for this product and therefore has great investment potential.”
Huawei
The delegation was taken on a tour of the Huawei headquarters, the multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services Company. Huawei is amongst the largest telecommunications makers in the world. Some features on the tour illustrated how Information Technology can provide solutions to everyday operations including banking, conferencing and mobile connectivity.
Henan - China
The Limpopo delegation visited the Province of Henan, in the central part of China. Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale met the Governor for the Henan Provincial People’s government Guo Gengmao. The two provinces have a relationship spanning eight years and it is growing from strength to strength.
Govenor Guo Gengmao welcomed the delegation saying that people of Limpopo and Henan must expand on their commonalities. Henan is the agricultural province in China and is responsible for a tenth of the country’s produce. Premier Cassel Mathale reiterated the Governor’s sentiments that the relationship must be taken to a higher level. He said “We need to take concrete steps towards implementing our plans. We need less talk and more action.”
The two provinces agreed to review the current agreement to make sure that it adequately addresses matters of agriculture, mining and economic development.
