A 37 year-old suspect is appearing in the Polokwane Magistrate Court today on charges of possession of firearms and ammunition.
Just over a week ago, police in Limpopo received information about guns hidden at a plot in Leeukuil. Provincial management of the South African Police Service (SAPS) put together a task team to follow up on the information and maintain surveillance on the property.
On Wednesday, members of the team pounced on and searched the property. They seized five guns (four rifles and a pistol). They also seized three magazines and 331 ammunitions.
The 37 years old, was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions. He is appearing in court today. Police are also investigating where the suspect got the guns and the reasons he was keeping the weapons and ammunition.
