Limpopo Provincial Government condemns in the strongest possible terms acts of disruptions during government tender briefing session by some rogue elements within the business community. This follows the yesterday’s disruption of a briefing session on low cost housing and later on the working premises at the Department of Education.
As Provincial Government, we recognize the rights of people to protest but needs to be done within the parameters of the law. This acts doesn’t only slow down service delivery to our people whom are in dire need of shelter but also deny our children their rights to education. Let us be responsible citizens and reframe from such. The Premier has already instructed the Provincial Treasury to investigate the matter.
We would like to put it categorically clear that if people are not satisfied with how awarding of tenders are processed in the province to lodge a formal complaint. They must follow the systems and procedures for queries. This refers to legitimate businesspersons registered on Central Supplier Database (CSD).
As government we’ll investigate and give a report back. We call on the business community to guard against criminal elements that may hide their genuine demands.
