Limpopo Department of CoGHSTA scoops an award

The Limpopo Department of CoGHSTA has again scooped special merit award for Seshego Community Residential Unit at prestigious annual Southern African Housing Foundation awards held at Spier Stellenbosch. The awards are part of the SAHF conference on social housing held at Cape Town from 11 to 14 September 2011.

Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs was rewarded for its effective implementation and transformation of Seshego old hostels into Community Residential Unit (CRU) social housing project.

The delighted MEC for CoGHSTA Mr Soviet Lekganyane said the award will definitely not be the last in collection list of the department. “I am happy that our department has been awarded this Special Merit award. This shows our continued endeavours of housing and property development in the province. I would like to congratulate officials for their diligent work in building better communities”, said MEC Lekganyane.

The Southern African Housing Foundation acknowledges individuals and organisations that have excelled and have made outstanding contributions to the development of sustainable communities.

The SAHF conference on social housing brings international perspective and highlight important issues related to policy, planning, the environment, construction and innovative building methods, financial models and options for public and private sector housing.
