The North West Provincial Legislature has noted with great concern alleged threats that have been levelled against the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) Chairperson, Hon Hlomane Chauke’s life, as reported in the Sowetan Newspaper of today, 11 March 2013.
The matter is now under police investigation and therefore, Hon Chauke will not be available for comment on it.
The Committee stands firm on its commitment to fight corruption and holding those entrusted with handling public funds in the province accountable.
All SCOPA meetings will continue as scheduled in the Legislature Programme and any other matters that deals with public funds the Committee will tackle them as and when they come without fear or favour.
