The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport is currently undertaking road rehabilitation of the P39/1 (R55) in Laudium, west of Pretoria and construction period is for eight months.
The project involves the reconstruction of the base, asphalt overlay and rehabilitation of the three intersections along the section of the road.
Community concerns, ranging from congestion and reckless driving amongst others, have been noted since the commencement of the construction and the department appeals for calm and patience to all road users and apologise for the inconvenience caused.
The project will improve the entry points, the state of the road, the provision of safe driving conditions along the route and will be officially completed in December 2014.
