In an effort to improve the health of the nation, the Phelophepa train will dock this week in the Mthatha, Eastern Cape where a range of other services will be provided to indigents.
But it is not just health services that are offered. The Phelophepa train has teamed up with Thusong Service Centre to provide a wide range of services alongside the all-important health services provided by the train.
One of the departments that has become intricately involved with providing services in this regard is the department of Labour Minister which will be represented on Thursday 25 January in Mthatha by its minister, the Honourable Mildred Oliphant.
“Our mandate is clear in that we must regulate the labour market. But this also places an onus on us to provide services like unemployment insurance, job placement, compensation and labour advisory services to our citizens.
“The department will be deploying its specialised trucks manned by client liaison officers who will be able to assist the local community with the entire spectrum of services that we offer. In cases where the matter cannot be resolved immediately, our officers will log this query which they will resolve at a later stage. This is a good example of inter-governmental co-ordination and it gives effect to the Cabinet decision that government needs to deliver services in a simpler, better and more efficient manner to all citizens across the country especially in places where there is no physical infrastructure,” said Minister Oliphant.
Other departments that will offering services include the Police, Home Affairs, Correctional Services and the social grants agency – SASSA.
