Labour on bogus labour inspector masquerading as legit labour official

Bogus labour inspector masquerading as legit labour official to deceive unsuspecting employers

The Department of Labour has learnt of some illicit workings of an individual masquerading as legitimate labour inspector.  His name is Kabelo Ramagaga who once worked for the Department of Labour in the North West province. This alleged felon visits workplaces and promise employers that he will get rid of their non-compliance problems for a fee.

All employers are therefore warned of this fellow pretending to be our inspector.  He recently visited one employer in Bloemfontein and offered his unscrupulous services.  To his dismay, the employer called authorities as he suspected foul play from this individual, only for the police to arrive just after his departure from the employer’s premises.

“We do not want some criminal elements such as this end up souring the working relations between the Department of Labour, employers and employees in various sectors of our economy. We want all parties involved to play a role to better the working conditions for the benefit of both employers and their employees,” said Marsha Bronkhorst – Chief Director: Provincial Operations in the Free State.

The Department would like to urge all employers and employees to be wary of this person and others with similar tactics and report them to relevant authorities should they suspect any form of misdemeanor at play.  Labour inspectors always carry their valid identity cards and should be able to produce those prior to the inspection.

The Department assures both employers together with their employees that we are hot on the heels of this alleged fraudster and will ensure that he is brought to book.
