DoL’s Compensation Fund aims to appoint payroll auditors to improve controls
The Department of Labour’s Compensation Fund is in the process of appointing payroll auditors in a number of provinces as part of its mission of putting controls in its enforcement systems, stakeholders were told in a meeting in Welkom, Free State, this week.
Vusi Maluleke, deputy director: Employer Assessment for large accounts at the Fund, was speaking during the Fund’s training for internal staff and external stakeholders on the CF-filing system attended by dozens of people.
The training sessions are being held across the country focusing on skilling employers on accessing the employer registration, on-line submission of Return of Earnings, facilitating on-line submission of employers, employer assessments, payments and receive letters of good standing on the spot.
Training has already taken place in Gauteng, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga provinces.
These training will also capacitate the Fund’s employees (Super-Users, End-Users and Customer Services Officers) with the required competencies to be able to navigate the CF-filing system more effectively.
Training sessions are being held over two days in each province from 9am to 12 noon.
“We need to remember that in each province, there will be employers who submit their returns and those who do not. We will rely on the Inspection and Enforcement Services branch in the Department to assist us,’’ he said.
Maluleke said over 300 000 companies failed to submit their Returns in the past three years. “We are accumulating interest on them,’’ he said.
He said officials in the provinces already visited have already been trained and urged employers to visit their nearest labour centre for assistance with any queries.
