Justice on appointment of South African Law Reform Commission

On Friday October the 6th, President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed the following people to serve as members of the South African Law Reform Commission (SALRC) for a period of five years:

Judge Narandran Kollapen as the chairperson of the Commission;
Mr Irvin Lawrence as Vice-Chairperson of the Commission;
Mr Irwin Lawrence;
Professor Mpfariseni Budeli-Nemakonde;
Professor Karthigasen Govender;
Professor Wesahl Domingo;
Advocate Tshepo Sibeko;
Advocate HJ de Waal SC;
Advocate Athea Platt SC, and;
Advocate Herina Magaretha Meinjes SC.

The SALRC is an independent advisory statutory body established in terms of the South African Law Reform Commission Act of 1973. It investigates the state of South African law and makes reform proposals to the national and provincial legislatures.
