Justice and Constitutional Development temporarily moves Galeshewe Magistrates’ Court justice services

Justice services at Galeshewe Magistrates’ Court temporarily moved to the Kimberley Magistrates’ Court

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development has resolved to temporarily move the Galeshewe Magistrates’ Court justice services to Kimberley Magistrates’ Court. This comes in the wake of the temporary closure of Galeshewe Magistrates’ Court building in July 2023, due to structural defects concerns raised by the Department of Labour through a prohibition notice.

Court services were in the interim provided at Galeshewe Police Station (Witdam) but the Department has decided to move them to Kimberley Magistrates Court from 15 January 2024. The public is assured that the Department is working around the clock with stakeholders to resolve the concerns raised in the prohibition notice to ensure swift resumption of services at Galeshewe Magistrates’ Court.

The department apologies for any inconvenience caused during this period and reaffirms its commitment to providing access to justice for all.
