Justice and Constitutional Development on fraudulent default alert message

Fraudulent notice alert

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is aware of the fraudulent default alert message which is circulating in the public domain. We would like to inform and caution members of the public that the notice is by its nature fraudulent and should be ignored.  

This fraudulent notice comes in a form of an email and cites Mr Paul Nel, one of the Departmental Officials, as its author. It further alludes to an order which was granted against the recipient in connection with remittance due to his or her creditors.  

Our Information Technology is aware of this and has confirmed that the message has originated outside the Departmental information systems. The Department is working closely with the South African Police Service cybercrimes unit amongst others to establish its origins. We condemn this fraudulent message with the contempt it deserves and apologise for any inconvenience which may have been suffered as a result of its circulation. 

We call upon anyone with information about this fraudulent notice to contact the Department and South African Police Service.
