Contingency measures for provision of Masters Services in the wake of fire outbreak at SALU Building in Pretoria

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development has made contingency arrangements in the wake of fire outbreak at SALU building in Pretoria this morning. SALU building is a host to various justice services of Masters of the High Court.

Members of the public are advised to visit their nearest Magistrates’ Courts for the Masters Office claims which are less than R250 000 provided that there is no Will attached to the funds. Arrangements for claims that exceed R250 000 amount are being made and will be communicated once they are concluded.

Preliminary investigation reveals that an electrical fault caused the fire on the 17th floor of the building, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished with minimal damage to the infrastructure. The Department is working around the clock to ensure that services at SALU building return to normalcy as soon as possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience incurred by members of the public during this period. The Department remains committed to providing access to justice for all.
