North West traffic Authorities have successfully recovered about R35 000 outstanding traffic fines from defaulting motorists. The amount was recovered in a period of a week during the jaws special operations.
A total of 54 warrants were executed and solved during the operations which are aimed at collecting the outstanding traffic fines from defaulters, mostly targeting those that have warrants of arrest.
The jaws operation was officially re-launched by the North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Nono Maloyi recently in Mahikeng.
MEC Maloyi continuously encourage motorists to visit their nearest provincial traffic offices and check if they have an outstanding traffic fines and pay. “To avoid to be subjected to an inconvenience by being arrested and not reaching your final destination, please go and check yourself and do the right thing, pay your outstanding fine and drive freely,” said Maloyi.
Maloyi said the jaws operations will continue collecting outstanding fines across the province. This time the department is conducting these operations without a service provider like before and has enough capacity and resources to rollout the operation.
