The Free State Department of Education strongly condemns the irresponsible behavior of disposing valuable textbooks.
The department learnt of this reckless behaviour when the police found a truck full of brand new textbooks for grades 4, 5, 6 and 11 sold to recyclers.
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms the irresponsible conduct of whoever is involved” says Howard Ndaba, Spokesperson of the department.
The books were used for promotional purposes and free copies and not the department’s order. However the department still believes that books are the greatest valuable commodity which should be used more than once before being disposed of.
