On 6 September 2011, SAPS LO: Buenos-Aires reported a South African national as a possible drug mule visiting Buenos-Aires with a return flight scheduled for 07 September 2011. The suspect was flagged by this office at our ports of entries.
He did not board the plane and it was later discovered that the local police picked him up after he collapsed at McDonald on his way to the airport. Upon investigation, it was established that the suspect had ingested 1,69kg of liquid cocaine with SA street value R8 450 000,00. The subject suspect survived the ordeal and is currently in detention in Buenos-Aires.
On 7 September 2011 information generated by our SAPS LO: Buenos-Aires led to the arrest of members of a criminal organisation in Buenos-Aires. The gang leader is the supplier of cocaine to a South African recipient who is currently under investigation. During the taking down on the leader of the criminal gang, nine other members of his organisation were arrested and a total of 5.3kg of cocaine was seized with a SA street value of R2,5m.
On 8 September 2011 information generated by the National Central Bureau (Interpol Office) in Pretoria, led to the seizure of 4kg of heroine valued R2m, and the detention of a suspect who tried to smuggle the contraband from the plane before reaching the carousal.
On 9 September 2011, intelligence received from an informant attached to National Central Bureau (Pretoria) and disseminated to SAPS LO: Maputo and Interpol Maputo led to the arrest of a Bolivian national who ingested 62 bullets of cocaine with an unknown street value.
On 9 September 2011 information generated by SAPS LO: Buenos-Aires led to the arrest of Aguirre Garcia who was en route to OR Tambo with 2kg of cocaine in his stomach. Street value R1 Million
On 10 September 2011, Andile Lolo November was arrested in Buenos-Aires attempting to board a flight to Cape Town via Doha. November ingested cocaine and the final report is not yet available.
On 13 September 2011, intelligence generated by NCB Pretoria led to the arrest of a South African National at OR Tambo, with 6kg of cocaine valued at R3,5m.
