International Relations and Cooperation on Hurricane Melissa at Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica and Cuba

The Government and people of the Republic of South Africa express their deepest condolences and solidarity with the Governments and peoples of the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Cuba following the devastation and tragic loss of life caused by Hurricane Melissa.

South Africa stands with the affected communities during this difficult time as they confront the aftermath of this powerful and destructive storm. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all who have lost loved ones, and we wish those injured a swift and full recovery.

Our thoughts are also with the many families displaced by the hurricane, as well as the emergency personnel working tirelessly to provide relief and restore essential services.

South Africa recognises the resilience and unity of the peoples of the affected Caribbean nations, and we are confident that, with the support of the international community, they will overcome the immense challenges posed by this natural disaster and rebuild stronger.
