The Speaker of the National Assembly yesterday, 27 August 2014 referred the matter in relation to the Chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission to the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs for consideration and reporting to the House.
The Committee is seized with necessary consultations on the matter in relation to the total documentations required to be considered. As per parliamentary requirements, the Committee already had an approved programme for this quarter and necessary arrangements and parliamentary systems of approvals are required to create an opportunity for the Committee to consider this matter within this existing programme.
As much as the public is anxiously looking forward to the resolution of this matter, the patience of all interested parties as well as affected parties is solicited and the Committee promises to deal with this matter at the earliest opportunity.
