The Electoral Commission joins millions of South Africans in congratulating Ms Natalie du Toit on winning a gold medal for the 50 metres freestyle race at the Commonwealth Games in Dehli, India.
Ms Du Toit has been an IEC Youth Ambassador since 2008 and has agreed to serve a second term until after the 2011 municipal elections. Her contribution to motivating young South Africans to participate in electoral democracy processes has lead to one of the highest voter registration drives since 1999.
"Ms Du Toit is an inspiration to all of us at the IEC and our best wishes go with her for the two remaining races", said Mr Mosotho Moepya, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer.
