Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) arrests senior superintendent for rape: Bainsveli

The Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) is investigating a case of rape, intimidation and attempted murder against a senior superintendent based at the provincial commissioner’s office.

It is alleged that on 11 February 2010 at about 20h00, the suspect arrived at Deneysville Police Station Barracks (single quarters) and threatened the victim (aged 32 years), who is a clerk at the station, with a firearm. It is alleged that he forced the victim into his car and drove towards Vereeniging Road and onto an open field. After stopping in an open field, he then instructed her to take off her clothes and he raped her twice on top of the car’s bonnet. He raped her again on the pavement, thereafter he took her back to the station and left.

The ICD was informed on 12 February 2010 and rushed to the scene. A case docket was registered and the suspect was arrested and detained at Bainsvlei Police Station. He will appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday 15 February 2010. The ICD will oppose bail.
