Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD) arrests Roodeport police officers for murder

The Independent Complaints Directorate has today arrested four police officers who are based at Roodepoort police station for murder. The officers are one warrant officer and three constables, their identities will not be made known until they have appeared in court tomorrow.

The arrest is related to an investigation into the death of Mr Sibusiso Molefe (27) from Tshepisong, Roodepoort. It is alleged that Mr Molefe was arrested by the aforesaid officers on at about 00h30 on 3 April 2010 for armed robbery and was allegedly assaulted by them. He died at about 02h30 on 3 April 2010 on the way to hospital.

The ICD is investigating a case of murder. The four officers will make their first appearance tomorrow, 9 April 2010 at the Roodepoort magistrates' court.
