The South African Police Service has noted with approval that the countrywide festivities which marked the dawn of 2012 New Year’s Day events were not characterised by any major crime incidents. Such a relative happening can be largely attributed to the on guard joint security forces and cooperation received from revellers during the celebrations.
From January 2 2012, it is anticipated that there will still be volumes of travellers throughout the country - including our ports of entry that will be full of activity. It is therefore with obligation to the call of safeguarding the lives of people, properties and enforcement of the law that police will continue steadfastly with Duty Calls festive season operation.
