The Bontle ke Botho Green and Clean Campaign has made it to the list of the Impumelelo awards nominees for 2009. Bontle ke Botho is nominated amongst the best projects in the country that have contributed to improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
A well deserved nomination means a lot to Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development communications officials who worked hard for the past five years to ensure that the campaign is visible at grassroots in the townships around Gauteng. Since its inception five years ago, Bontle ke Botho has targeted communities in townships to promote a safe and sustainable environment in their areas and empowered communities to come up with innovation projects that will create job opportunities for themselves.
The Impumelelo awards recognise projects of high quality that encourage the people of South Africa to help one another. The awards reward innovation in government and private-public partnerships that reduce poverty and address key development issues of national concern.
Since its inception in 1999 Impumelelo Innovation Trust continues to award outstanding projects that demonstrate innovation, poverty alleviation, environmental education, welfare and health and job creation among other fields.
Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development would like to wish the Bontle Ke Botho project the best of luck during the upcoming Impumelelo awards ceremony and congratulates all the officials who work in this campaign.
