ICASA issues the ICT statistics questionnaire as per the cost to communicate programme

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa hereby informs all stakeholders and the media that the Authority has released a questionnaire on ICT Statistics which is an important part of the Authority’s Cost to Communicate Programme. The Authority intends to collect ICT Statistics for amongst others the following:

  • Compiling an up-to-date "Status of the Sector" report;
  • Meeting South Africa’s obligations to the International Telecommunications Union; and
  • Preparatory work for conducting market reviews for the effectiveness of competition in the ICT Sector in South Africa.

This information is a critical component in responding to Parliament and civil society’s concerns regarding the high cost of communications faced by the South African public. The release of these statistics is in line with the Authority’s commitment regarding the Cost to Communicate Programme launched in June. Submission date is the 12th September 2013.

All responses should be submitted in Excel format.

Any enquiries in relation to the ICT Statistics questionnaire should be directed to Christian Mhlanga on (011) 566 3637 or cmhlanga@icasa.org.za and Pumela Cokie on (011) 566 3693 pcokie@icasa.org.za
