The Department of Human Settlements (DHS) distances itself from a “partnership” with Wildebeesfontein Properties and Projects which unlawfully sold or allocated stands to people in Beverly Hills, Evaton, Gauteng.
The company in question claims to have been working with the Department of Human Settlements and/or “Rural Development and Land Reform”, and this claim is false and is dismissed with the contempt it deserves.
The Gauteng Department of Human Settlements (GDoHS) and the Housing Development Agency (HDA), also confirm there is no agreement or partnership as alleged. They confirm that the land is unlawfully and illegally occupied, and in addition with the actions already taken by the GDoHS, relevant law enforcement agencies will be approached to also investigate the fraudulent use of the logos of the Departments as well as misrepresentation and corruption associated with such actions.
In her Budget Vote Speech this week, Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi warned people from illegally occupying property, both private and public, saying that such action delays, impedes and affects the pace of human settlements delivery.
The department appeals to people to be vigilant and not to fall victims to these scams. This can be achieved through verifying with relevant authorities including departments of human settlements within local municipalities.
