The Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Supra Mahumapelo, visited the Matsheka Family in Ward 15, Mafikeng Local Municipality yesterday afternoon (1 April 2013), to express sympathy with their grief.
Karabo Edwin Matsheka, 29, is one of the 13 South African National Defence Force soldiers killed in the Central African Republic (CAR) on Saturday, 23 March 2013 in a clash with Seleka rebel forces.
Hon. Mahumapelo said to the family the role played by the North West Province in bringing liberation in the past and ensuring stability and peace beyond our borders cannot be undermined/ underestimated. He said it is young people like Karabo Edwin Matsheka who laid down their lives for liberation, peace and stability in the African Continent. As the North West Province we are humbled and take pride from such gesture.
Hon. Mahumapelo extended his condolences to the Family and other families who lost loved ones who were serving the Nation in the South African National Defence Force, this include those who died exactly a week after the CAR incident in the Kruger National Park.
The North West Province shares the intense sorrow of the families and relatives.
