The Honourable Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Ms Lindiwe Maseko welcomes the delegation from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) based in Paris, France. The Delegation led by Ms Tatyana Teplova will be discussing the role of South Africa in the Initiative on Gender Equality and Mainstreaming project which the OECD is embarking on.
The meeting with the delegation will take place today, 10 May 2012 at 14h00 at the Gauteng Provincial Legislature- Speaker’s Boardroom.
Moreover, a meeting would allow them to explore potential avenues for cooperation in this domain, including for example the participation of South African representatives in OECD data collection efforts, upcoming conferences and flagship publications related to gender equality, governance and public policies, such as a planned “Women in Government” report, and their “2013 Government at a Glance” edition.
The participation of South Africa in these projects may allow to:
- Showcase good practices and achievements of your administration that may inspire progress in advancing gender equality across a range of OECD and non-OECD countries,
- Raise the visibility and relevance of your national policy agenda in the OECD work and thus at the forefront of global policy research and dialogue, and
- Provide data and information on South Africa’s gender policies to a large audience of policy makers, researchers and the public in order to advance the global agenda of women’s empowerment.
