Home Affairs Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma assures travellers of effective and efficient services at ports of entry over Easter

Home Affairs Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has expressed the conviction that those travelling through South Africa’s ports of entry - air, land and sea ports - during the Easter weekend will receive efficient and effective services on their movement in and out of the country.

This follows the deployment of over 200 additional immigration officers, by the department of Home Affairs, to various ports of entry to deal with the anticipated high traveller volumes during the Easter weekend.

Beginning from today, Sunday 1 April 2012, the officers will be deployed to the Free State, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo.

In this regard, 40 additional officers will be deployed to the Free State, 72 to Mpumalanga, 18 to Northern Cape, 22 to KwaZulu-Natal, 7 to the Eastern Cape, and 41 to Limpopo.

Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has further extended working hours at the following ports of entry:

Mpumalanga:

  • Lebombo for 24 hours, from 2 April – 2 May
  • Oshoek for 24 hours, from 5 - 6 April;
  • Mananga from 7h00 - 00h00, from 5 - 9 April;
  • Mahamba from 7h00 - 22h00, from 5 - 9 April; and
  • Jeppes Reef from 7h00 - 22h00, from 5 - 9 April.

Limpopo

  • Groblersbrug for 24 hours, from 5 - 8 April 2012

Free State

  • Van Rooyenshek for 24 hours, on 5 April 2012

Eastern Cape

  • Qashasneck from 06h00-22h00, on 4 April and for 24 hours on 5 April 2012.
