Higher Education and Training Deputy Minister meeting TUT stakeholders today

Minister for Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, has called on the management, students and all stakeholders to work together in finding an urgent but lasting solution to the problems that have led to students allegedly blocking the entrance to the institution.

Reports reached the Ministry that the TUT Pretoria Campus was not functioning as a group of students blockaded the main entrance, preventing students, management and academics from entering the campus yesterday morning.

In dealing with the situation, Minister Nzimande has requested his deputy, Mr Mduduzi Manana, to meet with the various stakeholders of the campus today to get to the root of the problems and work with them in finding a lasting solution.

“There are allegations that members of management, students who live outside the campus and some academics could not get access into the campus yesterday. That cannot be allowed to continue. A culture of effective teaching and learning must be restored as soon as possible,” Minister Nzimande says.

Deputy Minister Manana is due to meet with various stakeholders at the campus today.
