Higher Education and Training congratulates Class of 2019

Message to the Class of 2019

Government congratulates all the matriculants who sat through their NSC examinations in 2019. Government encourages those who did not achieve a pass in their NSC results to not lose hope as there are various options to consider including enrolment at TVET colleges, foundation phase programmes and learnerships.

The Central Applications Clearing House, referred to as CACH, is a  temporary mechanism created by Department of Higher Education and Training, to assist applicants who want to enter the Post-School Education and Training System (PSET) but might be facing a situation whereby they:

  • applied on time to their institution of choice but their application was regretted and now it is too late to apply elsewhere.
  • applied on time and met the entry requirement based on their grade 11 results but find that they now do not meet the entry requirements when their grade 12 results are released.

The  CACH  service  deals with referral of applications for Universities, Universities of Technology, TVET Colleges and Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs);

  • Information about financial aid (e.g. NSFAS information);
  • Career Development Services (information, advice and career planning/ information on funding and financing options); and
  • Artisan Support (National Artisan Development Support Centre).

The CACH service starts on 13 January 2020, the week following the release of the NSC examination results and will operate until the end of February 2020. Trained career advisors can be contacted for free on 0860 356 635. Alternatively, a ‘please call me’ can be sent to 072 204 5056 or an e-mail to careerhelp@dhet.gov.za
