The Ministry of Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities urges the public to assist the police with information that can assist in the resolving the case of woman found murdered in Sunnyside, Tshwane at the weekend with her head missing.
A women's torso was found burning in a suitcase in Sunnyside on Saturday afternoon. On the following day, a leg and an arm believed to be some of the missing part of the woman's body was found in a dustbin about two blocks away from where the torso was found.
The head of this woman, believed to be aged between 18 and 24, is still missing. The only piece of clothing found on her was a white and orange T-shirt. The Ministry appreciates that the body parts that are currently with the police have been recovered through information provided by the members of the public. We urge the community to continue to be on the lookout for the missing head.
The Ministry also calls on anyone who may have information that can lead to the identification of this woman and the arrest of culprits involved in this gruesome murder and body mutilation.
Cases of murder of women and girls are of grave concern and the Ministry will ensure that the horrific acts of violence against women are addressed. Government has identified crime as the main challenge to be addressed immediately and the Ministry will ensure that crimes against women and children are the main priority in the strategy to respond to crime.
