Hawks arrest four tracking company employees

Employees from a tracking company recovered a stolen car parked on a street outside a house in Voslorus. Suspecting that the owner of the house next to which the car was found was a car thief, the trackers broke into the house. There was no one in the house at the time. They allegedly took two plasma TVs and a DVD player, a driver’s license, passport and identity document (ID) of the owner of the house. The tracking company employees left their contact number with a neighbor who confronted them during the break in.

When the owner of the house phoned the tracking company employees, they demanded R8 thousand. They allegedly threatened the house owner with arrest (for allegedly stealing the car) if he did pay the cash. The house owner paid R2 thousand and promised to pay the balance later. He then contacted the Hawks.

The Hawks waited at the house for the suspects to collect the rest of the cash. The suspects were all rounded up shortly after one of them collected the rest of the money. The stolen items have been recovered. All four suspects are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate Court on Monday.
