Hail storms hit several parts of Limpopo province

The Provincial Disaster Management Centre has received reports of hail storms that have hit several parts of the Limpopo province. The Department of Local Government and Housing has since dispatched a team of officials to the affected areas in Tzaneen, Tubatse (Burgersfort) and Mankweng (Polokwane) to assess the damage and prepare a report for the attention of authorities. The report will advise the department in terms of what needs to be done and possible interventions depending on the severity of the incident.

Extreme hot and dry weather conditions are prone to wild and bush fires Limpopo is no exception. The MEC for Local Government and Housing, Limpopo, Soviet Lekganyane, as political head of the provincial disaster management centre, calls upon all the people of Limpopo, to be vigilant and take extra caution when disposing of any fire or smoking material, especial cigarette stumps. During this summer, parts of Limpopo will likely also experience above average rain.
