Group of armed men rob Post Offices

Police are hot on the heels of heavily armed men in connection with armed robberies that occurred in Ogies and Klipfontein Post Offices respectively.

Today 3 August 2011, a group of approximately five men entered the Ogies Post Office, held personnel at gunpoint and hit the manager on the head with a pistol. They then took money from the till and fled the scene in a grey BMW.

In a separate incident, police are also in pursuit of about twelve suspects who robbed the Kilpfontein Post Office in Witbank yesterday.

According to information received, these men entered the post office and held personnel at gunpoint. They ordered the manager to open the safe and took money which they stashed in backpacks. The suspects fled the scene in three cars, a silver Camry, green BMW and a white BMW.

A member of the public who saw the suspects leave the scene of crime pursued them in his vehicle. The thugs ambushed him, fired shots at his car but he managed to escape unharmed.

No arrests have been made yet, we urge anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the villains, to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
