Government welcomes HSRC study on public health

The Human Sciences Research Council’s study, entitled "South African National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey", is welcomed by government. This confirms what we have been monitoring as government.

The bulk of the 25 000 people that participated in the survey were pleased with services they received at public health institutions. According to the study, the majority of patients receiving treatment at public hospitals and clinics are satisfied with services that are rendered.

Acting GCIS CEO, Phumla Williams  said,  “The figures are evidence of the great strides that government has made in strengthening health systems and improving healthcare since the advent of democracy. There are numerous incidents where members of the public have had excellent experiences at public health care facilities.”

Government wishes to commend all public healthcare officials for their commitment and dedication, and calls for their continued support towards improving South Africa’s public health service delivery.

“It is through a collective effort between officials and the public that South Africa’s health system can continue to improve. Whilst government acknowledges that there is still room for improvement, it remains committed to strengthening health system effectiveness,”  said Williams.
