Media accreditation for the special official memorial service and funeral of Mama Zondeni Veronica Sobukwe
President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a Special Official Funeral Category 2 for the late Mrs Zondeni Veronica Sobukwe, the wife of the late Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) founder Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe.
A Special Official Funeral Category 2 is reserved for distinguished persons specifically designated by the President of South Africa on request by the Premier of a province.
The national flag has been flown at half-mast at every station in the country for the late Mme Sobukwe from Thursday, 16 August 2018, until the evening of the funeral service as a mark of respect to her.
The Official Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, 22 August 2018 at Graaff-Reinet Civic Centre in the Eastern Cape followed by the Official Funeral Service on Saturday, 25 August 2018 at the same venue.
Members of the media who wish to cover the memorial service and funeral of Mama Zondeni Veronica Sobukwe are advised to submit their details by completing the attached registration form. All fields must be completed.
The deadline for the submission of details is Monday, 20 August 2018 at 15:00. Details regarding the collection of accreditation cards will be communicated at a later stage.
