Government outraged by death of teenagers in Soweto
Government is deeply saddened by the death of two 16 year old girls who were found dead, in what appears to be a ritualistic killing, in a field off Braam Fischer Drive in Dobsonville, Soweto this morning.
Acting GCIS CEO, Phumla Williams, said “Criminal activities in any form will not be tolerated in the country. We have come a long way as a country in protecting the right to life. Government has put in place systems such as the Constitution, supporting legislation, policies and programmes aimed at fighting crime in our country.
Just last week, the Palm Ridge High Court was successful in turning the wheels of justice in a ‘satanic ritual’ murder trial and sentenced Robin Harwood and Lindon Wagner to 20 years and 25 plus 18 years for Kirsty Theologo’s murder and attempting to kill her 14-year-old friend.”
South Africans are therefore encouraged to play their part by reporting any criminal activity to their local police stations. “Government is confident that law enforcement officials will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to book. Working together with government, communities should act against perpetrators of violence and ensure that justice through official platforms continues to prevail,” said Williams.
